Teacher and Musician Challenge 13
There’s been a distinct CPD theme on the blog this week. Yesterday, that CPD theme focused in on musicianship, resulting in a survey looking at the musical activities undertaken by teachers. It only makes sense that this week’s Teacher and Musician Challenge should pay attention to musicianship rather than pedagogy.
The challenge: make music
Forget about your lessons, forget about draft specifications and forget about schemes of work. It’s the summer holiday and you’re a musician. Take some time to reconnect with musician-you. Compose something, learn that piece you heard on the radio, join an ensemble or give beatboxing a try. Don’t worry about how it can be applied in the classroom. Just enjoy being a musician in the same way that you became a musician – by enjoying it.
